Two Moroccan teachers were honored on Saturday in the Indian capital New Delhi during the “Global Teacher Award 2023,” an annual event aimed at recognizing and celebrating excellence in the field of education worldwide.
Dedication to Educational Innovation and Excellence
El Mahdoun Fatima Zahra, a philosophy teacher in Larache, and Mohamed Fettah, an English teacher at Moulay Ismaïl High School in Meknès, stood out among thousands of applicants from 94 countries worldwide at the event initiated by AKS Education, an India-based education research company.
Integrating Artificial Intelligence: A Path to Educational Revolution
El Mahdoun’s innovative approach to education emphasizes the seamless integration of artificial intelligence techniques, aiming to inspire and actively engage students in the learning process. Her purposeful educational projects have not only motivated students but have also encouraged them to actively participate in the educational-learning journey.
Encouraging Other teachers to Excel
Mrs El Mahdoun emphasized that “this distinction aims to encourage all teachers and educators to engage, demonstrate dedication, and foster more creativity.”
Mrs. El Mahdoun highlighted her participation in the competition through three projects. The first initiative focused on raising awareness about the dangers of school bullying, benefiting 11 educational institutions at various levels, including primary, secondary, and vocational.
The second project involved rethinking and transforming the teaching of philosophy by introducing gamification methods, as explained by Mrs. El Mahdoun. She added that the third project focused on developing a digital guide on the methodology of philosophical writing.
Acknowledging the Global Impact of Education
“This international recognition is a source of great pride and joy and an incredible acknowledgment for me as a Moroccan teacher and the exceptional efforts made by the men and women in the education sector of our country,” stated Mr. Fettah. His project involves digitizing student performance by connecting classrooms online.
According to Mr. Fettah, who is also the international coordinator of the “connecting classrooms” program, this event is of paramount importance as it provides a valuable opportunity to enhance professional skills by engaging with the most current pedagogical practices.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the event enables the exploration of educational issues that concern colleagues worldwide, fostering a rich and diverse exchange of ideas and experiences. This global interaction contributes to enriching their own educational approach and broadening perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of international education.
